The 1st LRSC Meeting at Humpolec
On the weekend from 22nd to 24th July 2011 the first LRSC Club Meet was organized in the beautiful landscape around the town of Humpolec. We stayed at the very nice Kovarna campsite nearby the village of Cervena Recice, where lots of fun was had already on Friday, especially in the evening, where we sat down in the company of various annoying insects.
Saturday’s main programme was the greenlaning trip around Humpolec, focused around a small Series Land-Rover exhibition in the courtyard of the Orlik Castle (not the more famous Orlik castle south of Prague), where all of the 10 vehicles were shown, accompanied by a lecture on LR history. The lunch was prepared in the castle’s re-built medieval kitchen and we could enjoy the tour of the castle’s ruins in glorious sunshine. The remaining half of the trip took us to the castle at Lipnice nad Sazavou, where participants could admire an even larger and more impressive example of medieval military fortification. Most of us, having seen the castle previously, admired the great view of the area’s wonderful rolling hills from the terrace below the castle.
From here, some of the participants headed towards their homes, while others enjoyed another evening at the campsite and left home on Sunday. 10 participating vehicles were a great success and we hope to achieve similar numbers during the following installments. The plan is to change locations so let’s see where the meeting will take us in 2012.
